EXMOUTH is the opening chapter of
notes from Utopia, a concrete fiction excavating connections between the extractive industries (mining, oil and gas, rare earth), occult practises, popular subcultures, and the lyrical-conspiratorial ghosts of modernity.
Taking the form of a journal and a collection of snapshots found in at the abandoned Harold E Holt Naval Communications Station in the Gascoyne mining region [

link 3], we feel out the story of an unnamed protagonist who, having left society to build an alternative spiritual community, begins to question the very roots of the Utopian dream.
