Flowers differentiate above the ground; the floral bud is an evolution which allows for cross-pollination and reproduction, as well as developing the range of hues and forms thought to comprise a flower’s beauty. The flower that develops underground has its own advantages of low-resource growth, security against predators, and circulation within subterranean ecologies.

Underground Flower is curatorial project that grows and mutates below ground until conditions on the earth’s surface cause it to rise as a sudden flower of flame.
